Steven Sunshine, Ph.D.
President and CEO
Steven Sunshine comes to Cyrano Sciences from Raychem Corporation where he oversaw the development of sensor technology and launched a business focused on sensor products for the electrical utility marketplace. In this capacity, Steven managed all aspects of new business creation including strategic positioning, product development, marketing, and manufacturing. Dr. Sunshine also served on Raychem's Corporate New Business Development Committee. Prior to joining Raychem, he spent five years at AT&T Bell Laboratories, where he was named on 4 patents and had responsibility for new materials synthesis. He holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from Northwestern University and a BS degree in Chemistry from Brown University.
Timothy E. Burch
Director of Research and Development
Timothy Burch has over 15 years experience in materials science research, analytical chemistry, thermodynamics and chemical kinetics. Prior to joining Cyrano he was Senior Research Scientist for U.S. Customs specializing in organic and inorganic mass spectrometry, chemometrics and forensics, and Research Fellow at Oak Ridge National Laboratory where he specialized in materials synthesis and experimental design. He holds a Masters degree in Geochemistry from Yale University and Bachelors degrees in Chemistry and Earth Science from Occidental College.
Charisse Chel
Director of Finance and Administration
Charisse Chel brings to Cyrano over twenty years of administrative and finance experience, primarily from manufacturing industries. Prior to joining the company, she was Chief Financial Officer of Trimedyne, Inc., a publicly traded medical device manufacturer. Prior to that she was Vice President Administration and Finance of Coastcast Corporation, a public company. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration/Accounting from the University of Phoenix.
Neil Plotkin
Director of Operations
Neil Plotkin has over twenty years experience in product and process design, development, and commercialization of disposable medical and surgical devices, hand held medical diagnostic instruments, and pharmaceutical products. Prior to joining Cyrano he was in a program management capacity with Medtronic Inc. and responsible for the development and commercialization of cardiopulmonary products currently producing annual sales in excess of $26 million. Neil Plotkin�s previous experience includes technical management and engineering positions with Baxter Healthcare, American Hospital Supply, Celanese Corporation, Alpha Therapeutics Corporation, and PDx Technologies; a start up medical device company that developed and commercialized a hand held instrument and single use disposable electrochemical sensor. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters Degree in Business (Finance) from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
M. Gregory Steinthal
Director of Engineering
M. Gregory Steinthal brings to Cyrano over 12 years of sensor and product development experience. Prior to Cyrano Sciences, Gregory managed the sensor development group at Engelhard Sensor Technologies ( formerly Telaire International ) in Santa Barbara, CA responsible for the research and development of stationary and portable sensors designed to detect a variety of atmospheric particulates and vapors. R&D programs touched upon commercial, military, and medical applications. Gregory has 2 patents issued and others pending. Mr. Steinthal earned his Master�s Degree in Electrical Engineering with a Minor in Optics from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona in 1989. He earned his B.S. degree from the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York.
